AMMAR
Córdoba and
the
Network
for the Recognition of Sex Work condemn
the brutal crime of Laura
Moyano, a 35-year old trans woman murdered in the city of Córdoba
yesterday.
We
support her family and friends’ demand for justice, and we insist
in the need to fight against transphobia, as well as against the
social stigma suffered by the people who make a living as sex
workers. Such stigma deepens their vulnerability to femicides and
hate crimes.
At
the same time, we condemn the sensationalist and transphobic ways in
which media, such as La
Voz del Interior,
Dia
a Dia
and El Doce TV, reported the crime, which do not respect Laura’s
self-perceived identity and flagrantly violate the Gender Identity
Act No. 26.743.
We
join the demonstration organized by Laura’s acquaintances this
Friday, July 31th at 6p.m., starting from Colon and Cañada, Córdoba, Argentina
JUSTICE
FOR LAURA!!!
NO
MORE VIOLENCE AGAINST SEX WORKERS!!!
NO
MORE TRANSPHOBIA!!!
